BSA Pack # 204

All About Jackson Pack 204 Cub Scouts

What Scouting Offers:
Cub Scouting is a year-round program uniquely designed to meet the needs of young boys and girls (kindergarten through fifth grade) and their families. The program offers fun and challenging activities that promote character development and physical fitness. Family involvement is an essential part of the program, and parents are encouraged to play an active role. Cub Scouting helps parents make the most of the time they have to impact the lives of their children.

Parent involvement is encouraged within Cub Scouting and there are many ways to assist the den as a volunteer. Once you’ve joined a den, your leader will have information on ways to become involved…whether that’s leading an activity or simply attending meetings. In Cub Scouting, we’re happy to have you!

The foundation of Scouting is built on providing hands-on, interactive activities that lead a child down the path of character and leadership development. In den meetings and pack meetings, Cub Scouts will make new friends, play purposeful games, and learn new skills through age-appropriate activities outlined in the Cub Scout handbooks. In addition, Cub Scout families will have opportunities to go camping and to participate in outdoor adventures. Lessons learned in the out-of- doors help to develop a life-long respect for the environment.

We host many events such as Pinewood Derby races, Special Scout Sleepovers (i.e. the Philadelphia Zoo, Franklin Institute, Liberty Science Center, Battleship New Jersey, BlueClaws sleepover), Nature Hikes, Memorial Day Parades and flag placements, Flag Day Ceremony, NJ Wild Outdoor Expo, Jackson Day, Community Service (i.e. neighborhood, beach, road clean-ups; food pantry collections; toys drives), games and crafts. All of the fun family activities are part of a curriculum designed to help a Cub Scout become their best future selves!

Jackson Pack 204 — Our Philosophy

  • The Pack and all activities are planned and run by us — the parents. While we are chartered under the Jersey Shore Scouting Council, we as Jackson Pack 204 believe in a very local approach to Scouting. The strength of our program is due to the active participation of the parents and the primary focus on establishing a fun, educational and social experience for our children that will teach them values and confidence that comes with earning the scouting achievements with their Den.
  • Our Pack believes that most of the teaching of Scouting happens at the Den level with Scouts of the same age. Pack activities are for meetings and celebrations to honor achievements or for outings that all ages can attend.

 How Scouting is Structured

A Pack consists of 6 Dens which correspond to Kindergarten through 5 of Elementary School:

  • Lions (Kindergarten)
  • Tigers (Grade 1)
  • Wolves (Grade 2)
  • Bears (Grade 3)
  • WEBELOS (Grade 4)
  • Arrow of Light (Grade 5)

After Arrow of Light, Cub Scouts 'Crossover' and become Boy Scouts.
